New Heights Basketball Skills Clinic (Grades 5–8)This co-ed basketball clinic is designed for boys and girls entering grades 5 through 8 and welcomes players of all skill levels. Participants will engage in age-appropriate drills, games, and competitions that build fundamental skills and game knowledge. In addition to basketball instruction, the camp emphasizes leadership development, teamwork, and most importantly fun! Chocksett Middle School Thursdays 3:00- 4:15pm Weekly from 10/16/25 to 11/20/25 *Please note: there is a $10 late fee for all registrations received less than 1 week prior to the start of the program*

This program is designed for aspiring basketball players in kindergarten! Players will have a fun time learning basic basketball skills through lead-up games, pint-sized drills and other fun basketball-oriented activities.  Miguel Martinez, a basketball enthusiast, will join Sterling Rec Staff in providing a fun, safe, learning environment for the young players. Sneakers are required, bring a water bottle.*Please note: there is a $10 late fee for all registrations received less than 1 week prior to the start of the program*

Monday, November 10– Play Night for Division IIIB @ Chocksett Gym Grade 4 5:30-6:30  Grade 5 6:30-7:30 Wednesday, November 12 –Play Night for Division II at Houghton Gym Grade 2 5:30-6:30 Grade 3 6:30-7:30  This is a recreational basketball league for players grades 1-8. We strive to create an environment that is inclusive of all players and allows for growth, sportsmanship and teamwork. Divisions are organized by grade and teams are determined by skill level. Divisions II-V must attend Play-Nights to demonstrate level of play and knowledge of the game -- there are NO cuts, this is merely to create the most equally talented teams as possible.COACHES! We rely on volunteer coaches and assistant coaches to run this program. Sign up for coaching is on your child's registration form. If you volunteer, you will be a Coach or an Assistant. You will be contacted for evaluations, not prior. PLEASE VOLUNTEER!  Evaluation Nights will be held in November, practices and games start in December.The following are the Division breakdowns and estimated days of play:DIVISION I–Co-ed; Grade 1. Instructional led skill work. Meets on Saturdays at 9:00am. DIVISION II-Co-ed Grades 2 & 3 (combined for teams). Skill work and games with emphasis on instruction. Practice/games two times per week.  Meet on Saturday mornings, or Monday, Wednesday or, Friday evenings. DIVISION IIIB-Boys; Grades 4 & 5 Practice/games two times per week, Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.DIVISION IV-Girls Grades 4-8. Skill work and 3 on 3 games. Practice/games two times per week.  Monday and Thursday evenings.DIVISION V-Boys; Grades 6-8. Practice/games two times per week Thursday and Friday evenings.*Days for practices/games are subject to change depending upon gym availability and school scheduleHead Coaches will receive FREE tuition for their child(ren) on the team they are head coaching. Head coaches ONLY.     Players MUST attend at least one play night to be placed on a team. Exceptions are at the discretion of the Recreation Director and Recreation Committee.Any player registration and team placement AFTER play night is at the discretion of the Recreation Director and Recreation Committee.
